A Story of Affirmation

We’ve a story to tell to the nation,

a story inscribed on our hearts,

a story of affirmation

that’s been with us from the start,

that’s been with us from the start.

For the love of God is steadfast,

and the Spirit is blowing free,

and Christ comes in to send us out:

The Bible says Jesus loves me!

We’ve a story to tell to the stranger,

a story of welcome and grace,

a story of affirmation

that’s here and every place,

that’s here and every place.

For God made us in love,

and the Spirit’s in every breath,

and Christ calls us to let it out:

The Church is broad – you bet!

We’ve a story to tell in our churches,

a story of justice and truth,

a story of affirmation

that’s for the world good news,

that’s for the world good news!

We are Christ’s body risen

and God’s covenant anew

and the Holy Spirit’s flaming tongues

and affirming ministers, too!
